Basics
Trey is a balance SSR. His max attack is 11,383 and his max attack is 6,330. So Trey’s stats are honestly pretty solid. He’s close to the current SSR averages, although his HP is just below and his attack is just above.
Spells
His spell 1 is Forest Strike. His spell 2 is Fire Shot 2 and later Flame Blast 2. His spell 3 is Void Shot 2.
Skills
So you know how I always struggle to count skills that happen twice, and how it’s usually just one skill that repeats? Well, Trey has 2 skills and these both repeat. So I’m just gonna talk about them in relation to what spell they’re on since I think it’d be a little confusing if I just talk about the skills. L-Like you know what I mean?
Uh, so on spell 1, Trey starts off with
a freeze immunity for allies for a turn. When he hits spell level 5, he gains a minor power boost to caster for a turn. At level 10, that power boost goes from minor to moderate. His skill progression on spell 3 is a little different. At level 1, he starts off with a freeze immunity to caster for a turn. At level 5, it transfers to allies. At level 10, he gains a minor power boost to caster for 1 turn.
Duo Magic + Buddy Bonuses
To no one’s surprise, Trey’s DUO Magic Partner is his fellow Science Club member, Rook. He also gives Trey a moderate HP boost. Riddle and Malleus are his other Buddies, and they both give him a minor power boost.
Alternatives + Dupes
Okay like honestly? My brain is fried and Trey is coming out in like 3 hours so I’m just gonna like, get into it. My picks for alternatives are Dorm Uniform Cater, Birthday Jacket Silver, Suitor Suit Riddle, and School Uniform Ace.
Cater is our spell match option and honestly, he has a LOT in common with Trey. They’re both balance, they have the same spells, they have Rook as a Buddy, and they both have power boost. The biggest downside to Cater is that he does not have freeze immunity. He’s the option if you’re not wanting Trey for skills, but rather for elements or type, or... whatever. Silver, on the other hand, is for people who need freeze immunity. He has freeze immunity like Trey as well as power boost, they share Rook as a Buddy AND DUO Magic Partner, and they both have Fire Shot 2 at some point, and also they have a flora spell.
Silver is gonna be your best alternative if you’re here for Trey’s freeze immunity or Rook DUO Magic, but not much else.
Riddle is gonna be your best budget option. Unfortunately, freeze immunity is an SSR-exclusive skill as of now [his first run] so like. If you need that skill, you need to go with an SSR. But if you need those elements, Riddle is a great option. He’s balance, he has Fire Shot 2, he shares Malleus as a Buddy, and has power boost. His biggest drawback in my opinion is having
Leaf Shot for spell 1 and not Forest Strike but like, at least it’s still a flora spell.
And last, we have Ace. He’s also balance and he has power boost. That’s kind of it. He does have the same elements as Trey, but not at the same strengths, or even hits when it comes to that fire spell. He also doesn’t share Buddies with Trey. Ace is gonna be your budget option if you have like, no other option. And I know that sounds mean, but honestly if you need a budget option I would really go with Riddle over Ace. Sorry Ace, I love you.
Final Thoughts
Freeze immunity is a pretty rare skill. I think I’ve talked about this before but like, I don’t really know how common freeze is when it comes to enemies. Debuffs are always great to have and especially since he has it on the majority of his spells, but truthfully I don’t know how often you’ll need to break that out. Trey, of course, can be used whenever, but I feel
like because he has double freeze immunity, it makes him a one-trick pony. I don’t necessarily mean it in a mean way, but I think it’s like. It makes him very useful, but he also might not be a unit you end up using a lot, like, you know what I mean? But regardless, if you guys go for him, good luck!
