SSR Lab Coat Rook Card Analysis

A beige graphic with Rook on it. IT's loaded with text, all of which will be discussed below
Basics
Rook is an attack card. His max HP is 8,780 and his max attack is 7,485. He hits HARD. As of October [2024], he ranks 7th in top 10 high attack in SSRs. Of course, this also means his attack is above average. His HP on the other hand, although it's
not close to the SSR average, it's still decent.

Spells
His spell 1 is Aqua Wave. His spell 2 is Fire Shot 2 and later Flame Blast 2. His spell 3 is Leaf Shot 2.

Skills
This Rook is one of those units that technically has 3 skills, but one those skills is just there twice so uh yeah. Luckily though, it's curse that's in two slots. For his spell 1, Rook starts off with a minor curse on foes for 2 turns. At level 5, it becomes moderate and it stays like that. On spell 3, he starts with a moderate curse for 2 turns. At level 5, it turns into major curse. Like the spell 1 curse, this one does not grow or change at spell level 10. His other skill is a minor power drain on foes for 1 turn. He gets it on spell 1 at level 5. It doesn't upgrade or anything, it's a one and done thing.

DUO Magic + Buddy Bonuses
Unsurprisingly, his DUO Magic partner is Trey, who gives him a moderate HP boost. His other Buddies are Jamil with a minor power boost and Vil with a minor HP boost.

Alternatives + Dupes
So, let’s chat about alternatives. Curse is a rare skill, so that’s going to be my main area of focus. We ARE lucky in that you can find this skill in all rarities, HOWEVER, it’s extremely limited in SR and R cards so you’re not really gonna get a good match to Rook. I mean if you ONLY want curse like you’ll be fine, but if you’re wanting something a bit closer to Rook… yeah you’re not really going to get it.
My suggestions are Birthday Jacket Kalim, Dorm Uniform Vil, Masquerade Sebek, and Twisted Tsumderland Sebek.
Kalim is my spell match option for Rook. He has all the same spells in the same slots, and he’s also an attack card. His skills and Buddies are different though.
Vil is my SSR option if you’re more focused on curse, like I am. Vil DOES share his spell 3 with Rook, but his other spells as well as his Buddies are different. But he has curse AND power drain. I will say though where Rook has curse twice, Vil has power drain twice.
Okay, I know this Sebek hasn’t technically come out yet [editing note: he IS on EN now], but he’ll be here soon and he’s the best SR option in my opinion. He may be defense, but he has Fire Shot 2, curse, and Vil as a Buddy. All things considered, if you need a budget option for Rook, Sebek will be a good option. He is a gacha unit, which sucks, but as an SR he’s theoretically easier to get.
And lastly, we have Twisted Tsumderland Sebek. He’s got Leaf Shot 2 and curse. Everything else is different. Truthfully, I would go with Masquerade Sebek over this one, but if you don’t plan on pulling for any of the Masquerade cards and you already have this Sebek, he’ll still be a pretty decent option.

Final Thoughts
This Rook is a very good card. I think for the most part, you can really put him into any team because he has all the elements that are in the weakness/advantage triangle. I would lean towards placing him in teams going against very difficult enemies because 1) he’s stronk and 2) his curse is going to be very helpful with weakening enemies. The power drain is also gonna be helpful but like I’ve said, curse is more interesting to me.

Arcane Combat Drills with Trein Guide

Overview Okay so. For some reason we’re getting another Arcane Combat Drills event. I can’t say that I like this at all, but unfortunately, it is what it is. If this isn’t your first rodeo, feel free to skip the rest of this paragraph and go straight into the map details. So this event has maps with tiles on them, and those tiles have a battle. If you’ve played through chapter 7, you’re already familiar with battle maps. If you haven’t, it’s basically just a glob of battles to get through with a final boss, Trein, at the way end. In order to get to Trein, you have to work your way across the battle map, beating every battle on every tile you pick. These battles all require a victory, so they all have infinite turns. If your team loses a battle, you have to pick a new one and go back into the battle. The enemies’ HP doesn’t reset though, so that’s nice. If you get an enemy down to 10,000 from 40,000 but lose, in the next attempt the enemy will have 10,000 HP still. On...

Arcane Combat Drills with Crewel Event Guide

Intro So we are unfortunately back at it again at Krispy Kreme. If you’ve been here before you know I don’t like these events. If you’re new, now you know. Although I do think the battle map events from this point on are a little more manageable, I can’t say that it’s like. That much of an improvement. Or that it’s overall a better experience. I’ve already explained these events in detail before, so if you already know what’s up, you can skip the next section to see the details about the maps. If this is your first battle map event, well first off I’m so sorry, but second don’t worry, I’ll explain the mechanics so you know what’s going on.  Overview So this event has maps with tiles on them, and those tiles have a battle. SSR Apple Pom Jamil

Basics Jamil is a SSR Attack unit. His max HP is 8,754 and his max attack is 7,506. I'm sure no one's surprised to see that while his attack is far above average, because of that, his HP is below average. Like I said earlier, he’s one of the strongest cards in the game at this point. Spells His spell 1 is Flame Blast, his spell 2 is Leaf Shot 2 and later Forest Strike 2, and his spell 3 is Water Shot 2. Exam Rankings So, how does this card rank for exams? I'd give him a B for flora, D for fire, and C for water. Skills For skills, he’s got nullify freeze, power boost, power boost again, and damage cut. On spell 1 at level 1, he has a nullify freeze for allies for 1 turn. At level 5, he gains a minor power boost to caster for 1 turn, and at level 10, it maxes out at a modest power boost. On spell 3, he starts off with nothing. You gotta get him to level 5 for additional skills. And when you get him to level 5, he gains a minor power boost to caster for 1 turn, and at level ...
