SSR Apple Pom Epel

a graphic compiling the information given below
Note: info about Epel's stats were current as of April 2023; it may be a little off currently.

Basic

Epel never came home to me, but he’s an SSR, so he’s allowed to do that. He’s an attack aqua/void/fire unit. His max HP is 9,868 and his max attack is 7,054. As I'm sure you're all guessing, his HP is below average and his attack is above. At least for SSRs specifically. The HP average for ALL cards in the game is 9,043, so he's at least above average in that regard.

Spells

His spell 1 is Aqua Wave, doing strong water damage.  His spell 2 is Void Shot 2. For spell level 10 though, it upgrades to Zero Ray 2.  His spell 3 is Fire Shot 2.

Exam Rankings

How does he hold up in exams? For flora exams, I'd give him a D, a B for fire, and a C for water.

Skills

He has 2 skills: power boost to caster and power drain on foes. For that first one, it's attached to Aqua Wave. At spell level 1, it's a minor boost for 1 turn, at level 5 it lasts 3 turns, and at level 10 it's moderate for 3 turns. For his spell 3, at spell level 1 it's a minor drain for 1 turn, at level 5 it's 3 turns, and at level 10 it's moderate for 3 turns. So they scale identically.

Duo Magic + Buddy Bonuses

Epel's DUO Magic partner is Idia, who also gives him a moderate HP boost. His other Buddies are Leona with a minor HP boost and Kalim with a minor power boost.

Build Guide

All right, so let’s talk about building, starting with the basics. In order to Groovy Epel, you'll need to get him to power level 40 and vignette level 3. Groovying doesn't use up any Thaumarks, but it will cost 5 Apple Candy. As for uncapping, he'll need 0-12 SSR Awakening Perfumes. Each uncap costs 3 Perfume, so the more copies you get, the less Perfumes you'll be using.
Each spell individually needs 351 notepads, 253 textbooks, 111 grimoires, and 318,000 Thaumarks. Spell 1 needs these in blue items, spell 2 needs gray, and spell 3 needs red. In total, that's gonna cost 954,000 Thaumarks.

Alternatives + Dupes

So I’m going to open this by saying the alternatives I found are all past event cards. And while yeah, we might get revivals at some point, uh... Yeah, you might not have these units just laying around. That being said, my suggestions are Halloween Costume Rook, Stargazer Deuce, Apprentice Chef Jade, and Halloween Costume Deuce.

Rook has the same skills as Epel, granted they scale differently. But if you need the same basic skills and aren't too picky with how they change, Rook's got you. He also has Idia as a Buddy, who also gives him an HP boost. Although his is a minor boost and not moderate. Their final similarity is they have Aqua Wave. Now, Rook's spell 3 is Void Shot 2, so they also both have that, however, JP-only as of the making of this video. You guys have heard that like, 40 times already. Don't take a shot every time I say that; that's not gonna be good for you. Stats-wise, Rook's HP is far higher than Epel's but his attack is lower.

Deuce shares his spells 1 and 3 with Epel. He also have a power boost to caster, but it's with his spell 3. Deuce will be a great alternative if you need someone to DUO Magic with Idia. AND Idia also gives him an HP boost (and a power one as well). But on the other hand, Deuce's other buddies, Spell 2, and his spell 1 skill are different. Like Rook, his HP is way higher than  Epel's and his attack is lower.

Jade's stats are lower than Epel's, surprise surprise. Spells and skills-wise, Jade's actually the closest to a dupe we can get. He has Aqua Wave and Void Shot 2, and he even has power boost to caster attached to Aqua Wave. It doesn't change at level 10 like Epel's does, but besides missing that, it scales the exact same as Epel's. His Buddies, however, are not shared with Epel. But if you're mostly interested in spells and skills,  Jade is going to be THE dupe for you. Not gonna lie, I was really surprised at how similar they were. 'Cause... I haven't been doing this for a long time, but I've already seen how hard it is to find a dupe. So the fact Jade got that close was like... Not gonna like, I thought I was totally misreading my spreadsheet.

And finally we have Halloween Costume Deuce. He's also a very solid alternative like Jade. He has Water Shot and Void Shot 2, so same element and then same spell. He has a power drain on foes with that spell 1, although it scales differently from Epel's. His Buddy is not shared with Epel. This Deuce is an option if you're needing those elements and don't care about skills.

Final Thoughts

Epel’s skills are basic enough where you don’t need to be overly cautious with where you stick him. However, void spells can always be a little tricky because they have no advantages. I don’t know, it’s a double edged sword. It’s great because it’s not a disadvantage, but on the other hand, that means you really need to build that spell up because it’s not going to have any advantages either. It makes it nice for Epel to be placed in any team that needs water because you don’t have to weigh both spells, but you might want to spring for another unit that WOULD have an advantage. If you prefer using void units in those situations and it’s something you enjoy, I would recommend Epel. I don’t think he’s the worst unit out there, but as someone who personally hesitates with void units, I have to admit I would be getting him because he’s my little boy and not for meta. But I am already playing that way so yeah, so like, that's not really saying much.

Arcane Combat Drills with Trein Guide

Overview Okay so. For some reason we’re getting another Arcane Combat Drills event. I can’t say that I like this at all, but unfortunately, it is what it is. If this isn’t your first rodeo, feel free to skip the rest of this paragraph and go straight into the map details. So this event has maps with tiles on them, and those tiles have a battle. If you’ve played through chapter 7, you’re already familiar with battle maps. If you haven’t, it’s basically just a glob of battles to get through with a final boss, Trein, at the way end. In order to get to Trein, you have to work your way across the battle map, beating every battle on every tile you pick. These battles all require a victory, so they all have infinite turns. If your team loses a battle, you have to pick a new one and go back into the battle. The enemies’ HP doesn’t reset though, so that’s nice. If you get an enemy down to 10,000 from 40,000 but lose, in the next attempt the enemy will have 10,000 HP still. On...

Arcane Combat Drills with Crewel Event Guide

Intro So we are unfortunately back at it again at Krispy Kreme. If you’ve been here before you know I don’t like these events. If you’re new, now you know. Although I do think the battle map events from this point on are a little more manageable, I can’t say that it’s like. That much of an improvement. Or that it’s overall a better experience. I’ve already explained these events in detail before, so if you already know what’s up, you can skip the next section to see the details about the maps. If this is your first battle map event, well first off I’m so sorry, but second don’t worry, I’ll explain the mechanics so you know what’s going on.  Overview So this event has maps with tiles on them, and those tiles have a battle. If you’ve played through chapter 7, you’re already familiar with battle maps. If you haven’t, it’s basically just a glob of battles to get through with a final boss, Crewel, at the way end. In order to get to Crewel, you have to work your way across the batt...

SSR Apple Pom Jamil

Basics Jamil is a SSR Attack unit. His max HP is 8,754 and his max attack is 7,506. I'm sure no one's surprised to see that while his attack is far above average, because of that, his HP is below average. Like I said earlier, he’s one of the strongest cards in the game at this point. Spells His spell 1 is Flame Blast, his spell 2 is Leaf Shot 2 and later Forest Strike 2, and his spell 3 is Water Shot 2. Exam Rankings So, how does this card rank for exams? I'd give him a B for flora, D for fire, and C for water. Skills For skills, he’s got nullify freeze, power boost, power boost again, and damage cut. On spell 1 at level 1, he has a nullify freeze for allies for 1 turn. At level 5, he gains a minor power boost to caster for 1 turn, and at level 10, it maxes out at a modest power boost. On spell 3, he starts off with nothing. You gotta get him to level 5 for additional skills. And when you get him to level 5, he gains a minor power boost to caster for 1 turn, and at level ...
