Basics
To start with the basics, Rook is a SR card. He’s a Defense unit, has a max HP of 12,306, and a max attack of 3,721. His HP is insane, being above the SR and all cards averages. His attack because of that is low, as we all expected.
Spells
On the spells-side of things, he’s got Flame Blast and Leaf Shot 2 in that order.
Exam Rankings
For exams, I’d give him a B for flora exams, X for fire, and F for water.
Skills
This card has power drain. On spell 1 at level 1, he has a minor power drain on foes for 1 turn. At level 5, it’s for 3 turns. Like a lot of these cards, he has nothing on his spell 2.
DUO Magic and Buddies
Rook has Cater as a buddy, with a buddy bonus of a modest HP boost. His other buddy is Ortho with a minor power boost.
Build Guide
To Groovy Rook, you'll need to spend 3 Huntsman Candy after hitting those requirements we talked about earlier. For maxing out his spells, he needs red and green items.
I'd build spell 1 first since his skill is on that spell. Since nothing is on his spell 2 and it doesn't upgrade or anything, it feels lower priority to me.
Comps
When it comes to similar cards to this Rook, we have Beans Camo Vil. They're defense, have fire spell 1s, Leaf Shot 2, and power drain. Vil however, doesn't share any buddies with Rook which I think is the biggest downside to him, but overall, fairly close. Another option is Nightmare Suit Jade. They're defense, have Flame Blast, Cater as a buddy, and have power drain. Jade has a flora spell instead of Void Shot 2, which isn't terrible but it's not matching so that kind of sucks. But he's very similar to Rook and I'm not gonna lie he's my favorite between him and Vil.
Teammates
So for potential teammates, he gives buddy bonuses to Dorm Epel, Dorm Cater, Dorm Vil, and Masquerade Riddle. While he gives Apprentice Chef Cater a buddy bonus, he also receives one. And same with Nightmare Courier Ortho. He gives and gets bonuses, although keep in mind this card isn't in EN yet. It should be coming this October so like in a few months, but still.
Final Thoughts
This Rook will be nice for budget HP padding for teams. If you're a Cater fan, this might be a nice card to have. I know I brought up Dorm Cater earlier but spells-wise he should work with Diner Uniform Cater, although Rook's the one receiving that bonus and not Cater but still. When it comes to downsides, his only skill is a bit basic which sucks, and his attack is low. I would say the best thing about him is his HP, definitely.
